| Companies tend to see maintenance as a necessary cost, which they often consider to be quite low (cheap labor, locally-made parts). Priority is being put on new investment, energy savings, safety, etc. None of these areas, however, is seen in relation to maintenance. Experience, on the contrary, shows that maintenance has a dynamic effect on the whole infrastructure. If maintenance is poor, the installation will never reach its full potential and will never be as profitable as it should be. |  |
| Our experience has shown that the indirect costs of maintenance (i.e. losses or consequential costs) are over 7 times higher than the direct costs on average worldwide. The same study conducted in China, where we have been running an annual survey of maintenance since 2006, show a ratio of 10 to 1. Through audits before and after projects, we have observed very fast Return on Investment (ROI), sometimes in a matter of weeks – for example when better decision support helps pinpoint and solve design problems.
