Sustainable Chinese-built infrastructures in Africa: preparing maintenance from the construction stage.
Our speaker Bruno Lhopiteau, founder of China's largest maintenance consultancy Siveco, will share his experience developing a unique business along the New Silk Road. Based on a long experience of "maintenance with Chinese characteristics", Siveco has developed a specific approach working alongside Chinese EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) companies in export projects.
By ensuring smooth transfer of technical documentation from construction to operation, transferring knowledge to local teams and thus enforcing good maintenance practice from day one, Siveco helps build more sustainable infrastructures in Africa. As maintenance is often perceived as a weak point for Chinese builders, the Siveco approach greatly benefits EPC companies as well, from the tendering stage to the actual delivery.
The presentation will show how early experience in the booming Chinese infrastructure market has led Siveco to support, among many other projects in Africa, one of continent's most ambitious energy program: to meet the increasing demand for electricity, the Algerian government has launched a massive investment program, aiming to build nearly 28GW of new capacity by 2025. Other case studies will also be presented, with a focus on providing practical advice for African owner-operators and Chinese EPC companies.
