On November 23, Siveco China's General Manager Bruno Lhopiteau was invited to speak on the topic of "A new approach to Safety and Risk Prevention in China: experience with Chinese property developers". The conference was organized in Shanghai by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China and was open to other international chambers, as well as non-members.
For several years now, safety issues keep making headlines in China – construction site accidents, fire safety, elevators and escalators problems, food safety, etc. While multinationals often struggle to implement or adapt their western models, some large Chinese companies are developing their own innovative approach to deal with the problem, "with Chinese characteristics". Bruno Lhopiteau, active for 15 years in the Chinese facilities maintenance market, shared recent experience with local property developers trying to implement "best practices" of risk management across hundreds of sites using technology-driven solutions…
Some of the topics covered:
– The difficulties of implementing "best practices" in China
– Building a compliance system: what works, what doesn't
– Experience with MNCs
– The Chinese way: experience with innovative local companies
The event targeted multisite industrial and facilities owners or operators in the Chinese market, as well as related suppliers and consultancies. The presentation received good feedback from a varied audience of construction companies, FM service suppliers, architects and consultants. Similar meetings will be held in other Chinese cities in the coming months (details to be announced).
